We offer no-hassle volunteering through our drop-in program. Just show up — we provide the gear and training. Opportunities are available every day, so come lend a hand in preserving this beautiful place!

Park Connection Office

Where: 618 N Mineral Springs Rd, Porter, IN

When: Every 3rd Saturday of the month, 9am-noon

Join us as we tackle a variety of projects including restoring habitats, identifying and removing invasive plants, and enhancing the shared spaces of our national park. Meet at the Park Connection Office, and be prepared to work outside.

Paul H. Douglas Center

Where: 100 N Lake St, Gary, IN 46403

When: For summer 2019, June 23, 30; July 21; August 4, 11, 10am-noon

Join us on select Sundays for mornings of stewardship with park staff! We will be pulling Yellow and White Clover, Spotted Knapp Weed, and other invasive species. We will also be picking up trash and doing beach clean-ups at Lake Street Beach. Please wear long pants and sturdy shoes, and bring water and insect repellent as you will be working outside.

Trash Trekkers

Where: Pick up supplies from the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center at 1215 N State Road 49, Porter, IN. Trash collection at various park locations

When: Every day from 8:30am-4pm

Help restore the park to its natural state through our “Trash Trekkers” program! Grab a friend, check in at the Visitor Center and pick a place in the park to clean up. Every volunteer that fills up a bag of trash receives a free Indiana Dunes Volunteer water bottle.
