Hiking & Running in the Indiana Dunes

70+ Miles of Trails. One Unforgettable Adventure.

With over 70 miles of scenic trails, the Indiana Dunes area offers some of the best hiking and trail running in the Midwest. From towering dunes and shady oak savannas to quiet wetlands and open prairies, the terrain is as diverse as it is breathtaking, perfect for hikers and runners of all skill levels.

You can explore multiple ecosystems in a single morning or take on one of our signature challenges, like the 3 Dune Challenge or the Diana of the Dunes Dare. Along the way, you’ll discover why this landscape is called the birthplace of ecology—home to rare plants, migratory birds, and some of the most biodiverse habitats in the country, all just steps from the southern shore of Lake Michigan.
