Autumn is in the air, and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than by heading to the Duneland Fall Festival at the historic Chellberg Farm at Indiana Dunes National Park. This year's festival takes place on September 14th and 15th from 11 am to 4 pm.
Farm Fun for the Whole Family
Farm demonstrations will showcase skills that families needed in the early 1900s. Chellberg Farm was once home to a Swedish immigrant family that lived and worked there for three generations. The brick farmhouse now standing was built in 1885 using bricks from a nearby brickyard. Other activities include a blacksmith demonstration, apple pressing, and a Kid's Corner.
Wagon rides will be offered throughout the day for a suggested donation to the Friends of Indiana Dunes, which directly helps support the farm. While no one lives in the Chellberg farmhouse, throughout the year the farm is home to chickens, cows, turkeys, and goats and has a large vegetable garden. The farm is run by National Park rangers and volunteers.
Live Entertainment & Snacks
No festival is complete without good food and music! Local music and entertainment acts will play on the outdoor stage at the festival. Musical acts include Geof Benson, local singer-songwriter Eve Senderhauf, Save the Tunes Council, and Susan and Gary Brown. The NWI Storytellers will take the stage throughout the day to tell family-friendly tales.
On September 14, Smores Amore Food Truck will be selling tasty treats, and on September 15, Travlin Toms Coffee Tuck will be selling piping hot coffee drinks.
