Virtual "Art in the Park" Painting Classes offered by National Park
Join local teaching artists for a series of virtual painting classes offered by Indiana Dunes National Park in partnership with the Art Barn School of Art and the Friends of Indiana Dunes, Inc. These free online art lessons will be offered from 2:00 pm 4:00 pm. No prior art experience is necessary. Register at: www.artbarnschool.org.
An experienced art instructor will guide students through the process of painting a scene inspired by the Indiana Dunes. Each class will feature a different nature-related theme. On July 10th, enjoy creating an outdoor floral grassland in the Butterflies on a Floral Grassland class.
Registration opens June 10th and closes one week before the class or when filled. There is a limit of 20 participants per virtual session. Register or learn more at www.artbarnschool.org. These online sessions are presented on the Zoom app. Those unfamiliar with Zoom may wish to visit https://zoom.us/resources to better understand the format before class since the instructor will have limited time to assist with technical difficulties during sessions. The sessions may be recorded for later use by the National Park Service, Art Barn, or Friends of Indiana Dunes.
Registered participants can pick up a free supply kit (including a canvas, acrylic paint, and a brush) at the Indiana Dunes Visitor Center before the event. If you cannot pick up a kit, please call 219-395-1882 before registering for the class to make alternate arrangements. The kits are provided through the generous support of the Friends of Indiana Dunes.
