Biocultural Conservation: Stingless Bees in the Peruvian Amazon
Travel *virtually* to the Peruvian Amazon to learn about stingless bee ecology, conservation, and beekeeping with indigenous communities.
Elizabeth Benson will share OnePlanets work with Maijuna people who are innovating indigenous knowledge to earn a sustainable income on their ancestral lands. We will discuss stingless bees, their ecology, and their role in conservation.
Elizabeth began working with Maijuna indigenous communities in 2018, concentrating on research and development of OnePlanets stingless beekeeping, ecotourism, and mammal conservation projects in the Amazon. After growing up in the Indiana Dunes, Elizabeth studied integrative biology at Harvard University before joining OnePlanet. Time: 6:30 – 8:00 pm
