Three Indiana Dunes Country fall favorites have been named among the “Best of Indiana” for Family Fun, Signature Food Item, and College Football Game Day Tradition.
The Haunted Railroad & Fall Festival at Taltree Arboretum, Valparaiso’s Popcorn Festival, and Valparaiso University Football gained Top 10 status on the Indiana Office of Tourism Development’s website – www.VisitIndiana.com.
Popcorn Festival placed 4th in the Signature Food Item category. The Haunted Railroad & Fall Festival at Taltree Arboretum placed 5th in the Family Fun category. VU football placed 10th among College Football Game Day Traditions.
“It is great to see our area represented in the Top 10 lists, especially with so much competition from across the state,” said Ken Kosky, Indiana Dunes Tourism Promotions Director.
During their Fall Festival, Taltree Arboretum transforms their model railway garden with skeleton conductors, ghost passengers, spiders, and haunted houses. Kids can ride the Sprout Express and families can enjoy hiking, hayrides, creepy crafts, and fall festival foods.
Valparaiso’s Popcorn Festival is specifically nominated for the Chicago-style, cheddar and caramel popcorn that is available during the popular event, which is held every September.
