A bathhouse, a huge swath of sand and a stationed lifeguard make this beach one of the most popular spots for enjoying Lake Michigan. If you're looking for inland fun, strike out from the beach and hike the Dune Succession Trial - it includes a boardwalk and 250 stairs to a spectacular overlook of the lake. The beach also has covered picnic shelters and grills.
Celebrate the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore with a free concert by the Northwest Indiana Symphony with the magnificent dunes as the backdrop. Enjoy the 40 piece symphony orchestra under the direction of Conductor Kirk Muspratt for a 90 minute performance of music selected to hit this special time of the year. The stage and seating area will be set up in the southwest parking lot at West Beach. Limited seating is available so visitors are strongly encouraged to bring folding chairs. Bring a picnic dinner or purchase food from one of the several food vendors who will be on site during the concert.
A New feature this year will be a wine tasting event sponsored by the Dunes Learning Center to raise funds for their education program in the park. Wines will be available for purchase. Fee collection at West Beach will stop at 5:30 p.m. on the day of the concert. Please carpool if possible.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Chesterton High School Auditorium.
