About

Enjoy 2,182 acres of beach, marshes, swamps, forests and dunes. It's home to Mt. Tom, a sand dune which towers 192 feet above Lake Michigan. The park provides camping, picnicking, showers, snack bar, camp store and, in the summer, a gift shop. Interpretive programs also offered. Hike some of the park's 16.5 miles of trails through diverse and wildlife-rich habitats. Lifeguards on duty in the summer.

Chautauqua in the Dunes, Indiana Dunes State Park

Chautauqua in the Dunes brings together learners of all ages to explore and engage with the topics of the day including environment, economics, politics, religion, art, and history. In keeping with the historical nature of the early 20th century, Chautauquas participants will be able to partake in lectures, debates, concerts, performances and more through a series of topic-based presentations. The event will be produced in coordination with the History Comes Alive Weekend at the State Park. Also, a new historic makerspace will feature art/music demos and make and take projects.
