Several times each year, Wolf Mansion, a private residence on the National Register of Historic Places, opens for tours. And throughout the year, the home also hosts groups of 20 or more that want to have a party or event there. The mansion, built in 1875 by Josephus Wolf, required the labor of 300 German bricklayers and took three years to complete. The three-story, 7,800-square-foot home features a cupola on top, and from the cupola people can see Chicago on a clear day. Guided tours of the mansion, which take about an hour, cost $15 per person. This home has been promoted by Partners in Preservation, Inc., of Hammond, an organization which works to place buildings on the National Register and which encourages owners to show their properties.
