Taltree Arboretum announces 2014 class schedule and summer camp

Valparaiso, IN – Taltree Arboretum & Gardens’ 2014 class schedule is now online. The classes cover a variety of nature, health and recreation topics and our geared toward adults, children and families.

Class topics include children’s science classes, Indiana Master Naturalist, birding, photography, wild edibles, fairy gardening, roses and carnivorous plants. Taltree’s educational hike schedule is also posted online.

Taltree is offering a buy five get the sixth class free discount for registrations between now and April 1.

Taltree is also accepting 2014 summer day camp registrations. Taltree’s summer camp program creates a safe and fun environment for children to expand their horizons and develop new interests in nature and science.

Taltree is offering five science-themed weeks from June 16 through July 18. Day camp is open to children going into the second, third, fourth or fifth grade. Camp experiences include scientific experiments, learning about ecosystems and animals, hikes, water games and field trips to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Challenger Learning Center in Hammond and local farms.

“We’re excited to offer a summer camp experience that is both fun and educational,” said Alexis R. Faust, President and CEO of Taltree Arboretum & Gardens. “With weekly camp themes like Wacky Water, CSI Taltree, Wilderness Safari and Science Quest, area youngsters will enjoy experiences that can’t be found anywhere else in the area.”

Children can be signed up for one or all five weeks of camp. Four of the summer camp sessions run Monday through Friday and cost $175 per week. The fifth camp session is only four days due to the July 4 holiday and costs $150. Taltree is offering an early bird discount now through May 1, 2014 and a multiple child discount for all registrants.
