New fall night hikes offer unexpected adventure at Taltree Arboretum & Gardens

Valparaiso, IN – Taltree Arboretum & Gardens is hosting night hikes Thursdays in September and October.  The night hikes are available September 12 and October 3 at 8:30 p.m., and October 17 at 7:30 p.m.

“These hikes are a great way to see how nature behaves, or not, at night.” said Alexis R. Faust, President and CEO of Taltree Arboretum & Gardens. “Nocturnal wildlife is elusive, but under the right circumstances it is possible to catch a glimpse into a world we would otherwise never know exists. Because of the nature of these experiences, every hike will be unique and unscripted.”

Each hike will hold the possibility of meeting owls, frogs, toads, moths, raccoons, opossum, coyotes, and more! Led by trained staff, guests will hike through native prairies, woodlands, and wetlands.

Guests are encouraged to bring glow wear, glow sticks or a red LED flashlight. The hikes are approximately 45 minutes long. Guests should arrive approximately 10 minutes prior to the hike start time to check in.  Guests should wear comfortable shoes and dress for fall nighttime weather.

Night hikes are $7 for individuals 13 to 54 years old and $4 for seniors (55+ years old) and children (5 to 12 years old). The cost for members is $6 for individuals 13 to 54 years old and $4 for seniors (55+ years old) and children (5 to 12 years old). Guests can register for all four hikes at a discounted rate of $4. Each night hike is limited to 20 people. Guests can reserve their spot by signing up at the Taltree website.
