Great events like Comic Con and presentation about shipwreck planned

Westchester Public Library is hosting some great events, including a shipwreck presentation and a Comic Con event.

The library will present a lecture on Chicago’s Eastland Disaster at the Westchester Township History Museum located at 700 West Porter Ave., Chesterton, Indiana on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. CST.

On July 24, 1915, the SS Eastland capsized on the Chicago River, killing 844 passengers and crew members. It was the largest loss of life from a shipwreck on the Great Lakes. Andy Johnsen, whose grandfather was a diver at the disaster site, will present the history of that disastrous day.

The library will be hosting WPL Comic Con 2015, from 11a.m. to 3 p.m. CST on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the Library Service Center located at 100 W. Indiana, Chesterton.

Fans will enjoy visiting artists, authors, lectures, costume contests for kids and adults, a comic themed trivia contest with prizes, superhero story walk for the kids, booths, and so much more.

There is a little something for everyone who delights in comics, graphic novels, cosplay, RPGsand comic themed blockbuster movies.
