Get out and enjoy September with these activities!
First, check outIndiana Dunes State Park’s website or calendar for such fun events as the Friday evening (Sept. 13) Dunes Candlelight Walk with ghost stories, the Sunday morning (Sept. 15) fall birding hike, or the Saturday morning (Sept. 21) early fall color hike. And, on Saturday, Sept. 14, there are two unique opportunities to explore The Nature Conservancy’s property in Illinois and Indiana.
From 9 am to noon, volunteers are invited to join Nature Conservancy staff for native plant seed harvesting and drying at Kankakee Sands Prairie Restoration in Newton County, Indiana.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., people are invited to hike black oak, sand savannas with Nature Conservancy staff at Pembroke Savanna in Kankakee County, Illinois.
