While it’s no mystery or surprise to the locals, the traveling vacation family may be looking for that special show to kick off the 4th of July holiday.  Fortunately for them, you don’t have to travel that far from the beach!  Help start the holiday weekend with the grand fireworks show sponsored by the Tri-towns of Chesterton, Porter, and Burns Harbor.

This year’s fireworks are on Friday, July 1 at the Indiana Dunes State Park.  Most of the recent construction projects are finishing up and the evening beach will provide a perfect backdrop for a spectacular fireworks show.  Back will be the many food vendors showcasing the different tastes of duneland, as well as live music down on the beach.  Bring the entire family and plan to stay awhile.  Relax with all the offerings and let the locals fight their way back home immediately afterward!

The fireworks are free, but the best viewing from the Dunes State Park will require the standard $5.00/vehicle entrance fee ($10/vehicle out of state vehicles).  Our better yet, use your annual pass for free entry.  Arrive early, as parking will be limited.  State Park campers are advised to walk from the campgrounds.  Multiple shuttles will be on hand this year to help with the crowds.  The fireworks begin immediately after dusk (~9-9:15pm).  For more information, call the Dunes State Park at 219-926-1952 or 219-926-1390.
