Celebrate Oak-aged Brews at Taltree Arboretum and Gardens OAKtoberfest
Valparaiso, IN – Tickets are now on sale for Taltree Arboretum & Gardens’ second annual OAKtoberfest on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 2-5 p.m. CST. This adult-only event features oak-aged brews and gourmet food pairings in a beautiful autumn setting.
Oak-aging creates an intense flavor and “kick” that will keep guests warm on a cool fall day. Servers will instruct and guide tastings of oak-aged beers and hard ciders from regional brewers and others, including offerings from a variety of breweries. Chef David Wodrich from Chesterton’s Third Coast Spice Café will provide gourmet appetizers designed enhance the mellow, woodsy flavors and amazing aromas developed by the aging process.
The menu will have returning favorites like New Holland Dragon’s Milk, and Sam Adams New World, as well as the Smoked Tomato Mediterranean Chicken Kabob and the Buffalo Chocolate Chili with a Cheddar Jalapeno Cream. New options will include Hinterland White Out and Dogfish Head Burton Baton and a Roasted Root Vegetable and Maple Leaf Farm Duck Croutini. The full menu is available at Taltree.org.
Adventurous beer drinkers and eaters will love the unique flavor combinations, while learning about the process involved in oak aging. Designated Driver tickets will allow guests a chance to sample all the food options and as a new treat in 2015 will also have a Barrel Aged non-alcholic option – Vernors Ginger Ale.
Guests will be given the chance to rank their tastings. The most popular brew and food pairings will be featured at OAKtoberfest, 2016. Guests will also be entered to win an annual Taltree membership, a $100 value. Event proceeds go to support Taltree’s environmental restoration, conservation and education initiatives.
