Indiana Dunes Tourism
We love the Indiana Dunes area and we love our job. We're the official agency for tourism marketing, planning and development in Porter County, Indiana.
We operate the Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center in partnership with Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. At the Center, you'll find travel information about our coastal region and in-depth information about the Dunes and the National Lakeshore. The Center also houses restrooms, exhibits, a theatre and a bookstore, along with our offices.
The Dorothy Buell Memorial Visitor Center is conveniently located I-94 on IN 49 at 1215 N. State Road 49, Porter, IN 46304.

About Indiana Dunes Tourism
Our mission, implemented by our nine-member board, our full and part-time staff members and volunteers, is to enhance the quality of life for Porter County's residents and organizations through a philosophy of partnerships. Our goal is to achieve this by stimulating the local economic base through competitive marketing and support of the visitor industry.
The support of the visitor industry is important to our local economic base. Each year, visitor spending contributes over $300 million to the local economy. Because of the impact of tourism, each taxpayer in Porter County pays $124 less in taxes each year.
The sole source of funding for Indiana Dunes Tourism is the innkeeper's tax (Indiana Code 6-9-18) paid by visitors when staying at a Porter County lodging. The current tax rate is 5%. Money in this fund is expended to promote and encourage visitation, recreation, conventions, trade shows and special events within the county.
Indiana Dunes Tourism is proud to celebrate our 25th anniversary in 2011! Watch for special announcements and more information as our anniversary year gets under way.
